Nutrition Director The Hinton area is a more concentrated fruit and vegetable growing area and Child Nutrition Director Carolyn Jacques works directly with many growers in her community to get local produce for their school food program. In September 2007, Watermelon Mania was a fun activity done with high school students through their Home Economics Class. The Farm to School administrator discussed health and nutrition with the students and then the entire class learned cutting ideas and made fabulous healthy watermelon recipes made from locally grown melons. Watermelon salsa, watermelon breakfast parfaits and watermelon fruit smoothies were among the favorites. |  |
